THE HUMAN BODY, HUMAN BRAIN, THE RESPIRATORY SYSTEM, Bile has two…
THE HUMAN BODY
is made up of several biological systems that perform specific functions necessary for life.
Every system is made up
of organs that work.
each system depends on others
THE CIRCULATORY SYSTEM
function:
Move the blood in nutrients, gases and other molecules around the body.
formed by:
-heart,
-blood,
-blood vessels,
-arteries
-veins
formed by organs,
are essential for survival.
HUMAN BRAIN
HUMAN HEART
is located to the
left of the chest
and consists of the heart muscle
pumps blood
throughout the body and
to do so it contracts and relaxes
The heart muscle is an involuntary striated muscle that is located in the myocardium.
KIDNEYS
remove waste products and excess fluid from the blood, which they combine
with water and other
substances to produce urine
some
is the
control center
of the body
Receives and sends signals to others
organs through the nervous
system and hormones.
The human body cannot live
without a brain, and brain
damage is permanent.
THE RESPIRATORY SYSTEM
function:
Allows the body to absorb vital oxygen and expel carbon dioxide in the process of breathing.
formed by:
-trachea,
-diaphragm
-lungs
THE LYMPHATIC SYSTEM
function:
a)Creates and moves lymph (clear alkaline fluid that contains white blood cells, helping the body fight infections).
b)Removes excess lymphatic fluid and returns it to the blood.
formed by:
-lymph nodes,
-lymph ducts
-vessels
THE ENDOCRINE SYSTEM
function:
Hormones go to the tissues and
regulate bodily functions
formed by:
-eight main glands that secrete hormones into the blood
THE IMMUNE SYSTEM
function:
Provides defense against
bacteria, pathogenic viruses.
formed by:
-lymph nodes,
-spleen,
-bones marrow,
-lymphocytes
-thymus
-leukocytes
THE NERVOUS SYSTEM
formed by:
1)-brain
-spinal cord, while
2)-nerves
function:
a) Controls the voluntary and involuntary actions of the body
b)Sends signals to different parts of the body.
Is made up of
central nervous system
(1) and
peripheral nervous system
(2)
THE MUSCULOSKELETAL SYSTEM
function:
Allows support and movement of the body.
formed by:
-650 muscles
-206 bones
connected by tendons, ligaments and cartilage
THE DIGESTIVE SYSTEM
function:
Allows the body to absorb food
and eliminate waste.
Liver and Pancreas produce digestive juices and
enzymes.
formed by:
-mouth,
-esophagus,
-stomach,
-small intestine,
-large intestine,
-rectum,
-anus,
-liver,
-pancreas.
THE EXCRETORY SYSTEM
formed by:
-two kidneys,
.two ureters,
-the bladder,
-two sphincters muscles
-the urethra
function:
a)Removes urea from the body
b)Regulates electrolyte balance and acid-base homeostasis
c) Check blood volume, pressure and pH.
THE REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM
function:
During conception, a sperm fuse
with an egg cell, which creates a fertilized egg.
formed by:
is composed of different sexual organs
THE INTEGUMENTARY SYSTEM
2 more items...
Bile has two important functions:
-helps the digestion and absorption of fats in the intestine
-helps the body to expel waste
LIVER
1) it
detoxifies
the body of chemicals
2) it breaks
down drugs
3) it
filters the blood
4) it produces
blood clot proteins
5) it is responsible for the
secretion of bile
LUGS
are located in the chest.
remove oxygen from the air and
bring it to our blood to send it to our cells
they remove carbon dioxide
We can live without a lung
