What is the Resistance?
People fought against the German occupation, the Nazis.
What did they do?
They did sabotage actions: blowing up trains, cutting communication lines...

They hid people, created escape routes for Jews or Allied soldiers.
They fought in the forests, lived in the woods, attacked the enemies.
Was it dangerous?
If they were caught, resisters were often arrested or executed.

They had to work in secret, using codes and disguises.

Examples of Resistance
In France: the Maquis, the Vercors Resistance. In Denmark: Danish rescue of Jews.
Who were the Resisters?
Ordinary people: farmers, teachers, students, even children.
