WHY DO I USE HPGE?

HOW WAS THE FYP DONE?
TO IDENTIFY NORM THAT PRESENT IN TILES USING INDENTIFINDER
potassium-40 and thorium-232 found in every sample
TO DETERMINE RADIOACTIVITY CONCENTRATION OF SAID NORM IN TILES USING HPGE
1. PREPARE THE TILE SAMPLES
crushed then ground
sieved
dried in drying oven for 24 hrs
stored for 28 days
to ensure the sample is in uniform particle size
2. CALIBRATE THE HPGE DETECTOR USING A MULTINUCLIDES STANDARD SAND SOURCE
3. ANALYZE SAMPLE USING HPGE
4. DETERMINE THE RADIOACTIVITY CONCENTRATIONS & HAZARD INDICES
TO EVALUATE THE RADIOLOGICAL RISK TO HUMANS
RADIUM EQUIVALENT ACTIVITY CONCENTRATION
