Unyielding Influence
When Antimatter died in 319, his successor Polyperchon invited Olympias to act as regent for her grandson Alexander IV
she declined his request until 317BC, when Cassander established Philip III (Arrhidaeus) as king of Macedonia
at this time the Macedonian soldiers supported her return, so she executed Philip Arrhidaeus and his wife
in response, Cassander entered Macedonia and blockaded her in Pydna, where she surrendered in 316 and was condemned to death
but Cassander's soldiers refused to kill her, and eventually she was killed by relatives of those she had executed
