7. REFLECTORS
RETRO-REFLECTORS
LIGHT MOTOR VEHICLE
The rear of a light motor vehicle must be fitted with two red retro-reflectors, one on each side.
HEAVY MOTOR VEHICLE
If a heavy motor vehicle is not fitted with two red retro-reflector at the same height on the rear, then it should not be driven on a public road.
If the overall length of a heavy motor vehicle or a combination of vehicles exceeds 7 metres, then such vehicle is not allowed on a public road,
Unless such vehicle is fitted with so many yellow retro-reflectors on each side to ensure that no two successive yellow retro-reflector are more than 3.6 metres apart,
It is not compulsory to fit a goods vehicle with yellow retro-reflectors, if it is fitted with yellow reflective strips.
MOTORCYCLES
If your motorcycle, tricycle is not fitted with a red retro reflector on the rear, then you may not ride it on a public road.
WARNING FLAGS/REFLECTORS
If a vehicle is carrying a load that projects more than 150 millimetres to the side, or more than 300 millimetres to the rear, it must be marked by:
• A red flag/flags (300mm x 300mm) during daytime, and
• Retro reflectors during night time, or
• White retro reflectors to the front and red retro reflectors to the rear, when people and vehicle are not clearly visible due to unfavourable conditions.
