PROTEIN SYNTHESIS, TRANSLATION, TRANSCRIPTION, PROCESSING mRNA, codon -…
PROTEIN SYNTHESIS
is the process of making proteins, it can be divided in:
-
-
-
TRANSLATION
-
-
1- when bound the start codon, the ribosome moves to the elongation phase of protein synthesis
2-complex composed of an amino acid linked to tRNA bind to the appropriate codon in mRNA by forming complementary base pairs with the tRNA anticodon
-
4- amino acids are added one by one, translated into polypeptide sequences dictated by DNA
5- a release factor binds to the stop codon, terminating translation and releasing the complexe polypeptide
TRANSCRIPTION
-
-
2- the double helix of DNA unfolds and one strand is used a s template by the enzyme RNA polymerase to synthesize mRNA
3- the DNA sequences is copied into mRNA, which migrates from nucleus to cytoplasm
PROCESSING mRNA
-
-
mRNA is not yet ready for translation, it's called pre-mRNA
