Brandon Sherman and Annela Teemant "Agency, Identity, Power" - I relate to this article because I agree that teachers hold a power of influence, and I think this translates to coaches as well because they hold the same power and teach the team the game and how to play. This power show be used to show inclusivity and allow for a better learning environment. Unfortunately, during soccer, my coach made this impossible and used her power to show me as weak or different and always singled me and my other Hispanic friend out to make us feel outcasted and different. We both came to an understanding that our coach was doing this and we always experience racism and our white teammates had started doing the same things to us. When we asked our withe friend, she did not see a problem with the criticism and saw it as a joke. This is why I believe that teachers who show this behavior foster that kind of behavior in their students.
