God's Choice of Gideon
God chose a poor farmer, Gideon, to lead Israel.

Gathering the Army

The Battle Plan

Gideon’s 300 men were armed with trumpets, pitchers, and torches.

At night, the men surrounded the Midianite camp.
On cue, they blew their trumpets, smashed the pitchers, and lit the torches.

The Victory
The Midianites, scared and disoriented, fought each other and fled.

Gideon’s Response

Despite the victory, Gideon refused to rule over Israel.
He acknowledged that it was God’s victory, not his own.
