- - - - Economic insecurity often leads to authoritarianism. Individuals lose trust in democratic regimes to solve crises. For example, The great Depression undermined democracies and helped the rise of Fascism and Communism.
    - - Societies with high inequality are more likely to have an authoritarian rule. For example, dictatorships in Guatemala and El Salvador where military is designed to protect political interests. In contrast, Costa Rica has stable democracies and their military has played an insignificant political role.
    - - Economic crises, such as those during wars or deppressions, often affect multiple nations. This increases the chances of authoritarian shifts.

        "Soft Power" ideology wins recognition without the need of any conflict. "Soft power" this refers to when a nation persuades instead of commanding other nations into doing what they desire.

        Interventions of other countries led to an economic downturn. For example, the US backed the dictatorship of Carlos Castillo in Chile, consequently, Jacobo Arbenz was discredited even though he was democratically elected.
      - Military Defeats
        
        Unsuccessful and unnecessary wars weaken the regimes or at least it includes the risk of those regimes not winning quickly. For instance, Argentina started the Falklands War to divert the citizen's attention from the contemporary economic problem and regime's abuses. However, it brought the collapse of the authoritarian government.
    - - Propaganda
        
        Black, grey, and white propaganda was used to justify the actions of the regimes. Black propaganda was false information that discredits the enemy, grey propaganda had the exact same purpose but the source of information was unclear, and lastly white propaganda also undermines the enemy but the origin of the propaganda is honestly declared.
      - Military Power
        
        Authoritarian regimes used to use military strength to oppress the society so they can maintain control. For example, the Soviets invaded Hungary and Czechoslovakia due to its superpower support to maintain their authoritarian regime.

        The 1861 Emancipation opened multiple opportunities for women to participate in blue- and white- collar jobs.
      - WW1 Impact
        
        Thanks to the war, women's participation changed up to 43%, taking roles in took on roles like nursing, clerking, and even combat, such as Maria Bochkareva
    - - Legal Reforms
        
        The "Family Code" gave women a legal status equal to men. It established equal rights for women in marriage, divorce, and parenthood. Divorce and abortion were allowed, and equal pay was required.
      - Zhenotdel
        
        The women's department of the Communist Party promoted gender equality and feminism. For example, Alexandra Kollontai criticized policies she did not agreed with and was forced to leave her appointment in 1922.
    - - Industrialization
        
        By 1940, women made up 39% of the workforce. In addition, women got access to secondary and post- secondary education making them 50% of students by 1939.
        
        Women joined collective farms due to the collectivization, though there was resistance known as "babi bunty" which was a series of attacks by the farmers that got to the extent of setting the countryside on fire.

        Stalin changed this social progress by banning abortion and divorce in 1939. Lastly, the result of these transformations was the creation of the ‘New Soviet Man’ and the ‘New Soviet Woman' since these changes were well received by general population

The government used culture to promote socialist values and some artists supported it while others resisted. For example, poet Anna Akhmatova faced persecution for her work, while Vladimir Mayakovsky succeeded because he supported the government's ideas.

    - - Regimes were less strict than totalitraian ones. They focused on controlling key parts of society like military, police ad media to stay in power. For example, in Spain some Catholic churchs had some freedom, but the government controlled the press and used the police to stop opposition.
