The first creation story in Genesis (1:1–2:3) describes God creating the universe in six days. He begins with light, separating it from darkness, forming day and night. On subsequent days, He creates the sky, dry land, seas, vegetation, the sun, moon, stars, birds, sea creatures, and animals. On the sixth day, God creates humanity in His image, giving them dominion over creation and the command to be fruitful and multiply. Each day, God declares His work “good.” On the seventh day, God rests, blessing and sanctifying it as a day of rest, establishing the pattern of the Sabbath.
