- - - - this clearly shows the harsh conditions that the working class would have been working in. the three dancers are miming the people who have been historically been forced into machine-like labour in the Pajama Game, as the splayed fingers and streched out arms, one to the side and and one to the front is probaly mimicking them shovelling 'more coal in the boiler'. (splayed fingers is a style of fosse also.) the fact that the female then says 'but that don't do good', while all still performing this movement, shows that these working conditions people were forced to be in and do were very harsh and lot of hard duty work. the miming and mimicking movement reflected and supported american politics and economy at the time. the rpetetion also enchauplaes the machine like-work, and they work long hours.
    - - also the fact that the dancers wear their black trousers awkeardly above their ankles recalls the blackface dandy caricature.
      - the dancers look like 'charlie chaplin' - >he was signified as working class, and therefore the three dancers are miming the peoole who have hsitorically been forced into machine- like labour in the 'Pajama Game'

      - ice's control and support is seen when a-rabb starts rapidly and aggressvely slapping his hands together as he starts to get angrier, then ice puts his hand on a-rabb's shoulder to calm him down.

        themes: jets become united in preparation for a street battle, shows the division between groups as jets begin this section performing indivual movements, however end this piece very united in preparation to oppose the sharks.
      - motif of 'clicking the fingers' is seen in this motif too.
    - - in cool, ice, takes up as new leader of the jets and tries to cool down his gang after their leader 'riff' is killed by the sharks leader bernado. they have to stay 'cool' in order to maintain a gang and surrive and get out of the police
        
        there is rivalry between the jets and sharks bcause the sharks want control of the town as wellas the jets do, but the jets have been there longer, the jets are poeutean rican and aren't from that town.
