Matching numbers to amounts
This helps to understand the meaning behind numbers for young children. They don't yet know that 1, 2,3 .. has a meaning so by counting and labelling that amount of buttons (bears, blocks etc) they can place meaning behind it. This uses a scaffolding technique linking to Bruner. Also explores Vygotsky's MKO.
