Initial Assessment (ABCD):
1-Airway & Breathing:
Assess airway patency, ensure ventilation, and manage chest injuries (e.g., needle thoracotomy for tension pneumothorax).
2-Circulation:
Secure 2 IV lines, administer fluids and blood products, control bleeding, and prepare for immediate surgery if needed.
3-Disability:
Evaluate consciousness, pupils, and spinal stability.
4-Exposure & Environmental Control:
Inspect the abdomen and other body areas for additional injuries, and maintain warmth to prevent hypothermia.
Other Management Steps:
-Insert an orogastric/nasogastric tube for decompression.
-Place a Foley catheter to monitor urine output.
-Cover open wounds with sterile saline dressings.
-Collect blood and urine samples for diagnostic tests.
