SYSTEMS

RESPIRATORY SYSTEM
- trachea, diaphragm, lungs
- function: take in oxygen & expel carbon dioxide (breathing)
LYMPHATIC SYSTEM
- lymph nodes, lymph ducts, lymph vessels
- function: for defences from infection -> to make and move "lymph", clear alkaline fluid with white blood cells
ENDOCRINE SYSTEM
- glands that secrete hormones into the blood
- hormones travel to tissues & regolate bodily functions (ex. Metabolism, growth)
IMMUNE SYSTEM
- lymph nodes, spleen, bone marrow, lymphocytes, leucocytes
- function: defences against bacteria and viruses
NERVOUS SYSTEM
- central nervous system= brain, spinal cord; peripheral nervous system= nerves
- controls voluntary and involuntary actions and send signals to body
MUSCULOSKELETAL SYSTEM
- 650 bones, 206 muscles, tendons, ligaments, cartilage
- allow supporto and movement
DIGESTIVE SYSTEM
- mouth, stomach, small and large i testine, rectum, liver, pancreas
- allow the body to break down and absorb food with digestive Juice and enzymes / eliminate waste
EXCRETORY SYSTEM
- kidneys, ureters, bladder, sphincter muscles, urethra
- eliminate urea from body (waste) ; controls blood volume, pressure, pH
REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM
- sex organs which work to reproduction
- CONCEPTION: sperem cell fuses with egg cell and creates fertilized egg in the uterus
INTEGUMENTARY SYSTEM
- hair, nails, skin
- defence against bacteria/viruses; regulated temperature; perspiration to eliminate waste
VITAL ORGANS
BRAIN
- receives and sends signals through nervous system and ormones
- responsible for thought, memory, feeling, perception of world
- brain damage is permanent
HEARTH
- in the left of the chest
- pumps blood and contracts and relaxes 70 times/minute
- cardiac muscle: involuntary and striated
KIDNEYS
- removes waste and extra fluid from blood
- maxes urine with urea from blood and water
LIVER
- detoxifies the body of chemicals, drugs, filters blood
- secretion of bile (digestive juice) & BILE has 2 functions: assists with fat digestion and absorption; helps to excrete waste from blood
LUNGS
- in the chest
- take oxygen from air and deliver it to blood
- removes carbon dioxide
