Photosynthesis
Chloroplast
Chlorophyll: Green pigment.
Mesophyll: Where most of photosynthesis occurs internally.
Stomata: Pores in leaves that CO2 enters and oxygen exits from.
Outer and inner membranes (separated by intermembrane) space- Thylakoid membrane contains pigment molecules (Membrane forms thylakoids- Enclose thylakoid lumen)

Trophic levels
Heterotroph: Must eat food/organic molecules to sustain life (bacteria, protists, fungi, and animals.)
-
Photoautotroph: Use light as a source of energy (green plants, algae, cyanobacteria.)
Products
-
NADPH: in the stroma from high-energy electrons that start in PSII and are boosted in PSI.
NADP+ + 2 electrons + H + → NADPH.
-
Pigments
Types: Chlorophyll a, Chlorophyll b, Carotenoids.

Variations
Environmental conditions (light intensity- temperature- water availability) can influence the efficiency and way the Calvin cycle works.
-
C3 Plants: Standard Calvin cycle (e.g., wheat).- In mesophyll cells.
C4 Plants: Minimize photorespiration by spatial separation of carbon fixation (e.g., corn).- In bundle-sheath cells.
CAM Plants: Temporal separation of carbon fixation (e.g., cacti).- In mesophyll cells.
