in 1665 they sent soldiers to New-France

didn't need many people to run the fur trade
it required partner ships with First Nations to run
did not see much reason to change the things that would happen
The Catholic Church/Clergy
the clergy were a small group of people that could read and write
played an important role in the identity of New France
play a role in governing the colony
