L7 Notes Friction
4 types of friction
Kinetic friction
The frictional force that opposes the motion of an object that is already sliding over a surface. It is usually less than static friction.
Rolling friction
The friction that occurs when an object rolls over a surface, such as a wheel or ball. This type of friction is generally much weaker than static and kinetic friction.
Fluid friction
The resistance experienced by an object moving through a fluid (liquid or gas), such as air resistance acting on a car or water resistance on a swimmer.
