A report by the Royal College of Psychiatrists found that many regions in England fail to meet standards for timely access to eating disorder treatment. Age gaps, children services often better funded than adults, weight bias denying those who do not meet weight criteria for treatment, government funding, gaps in adult services, rural availability, and aftercare for eating disorders. NHS England allocated £58 million in 2023 to enhance early intervention and expand services for young people.
