George Balanchine
- He trained at the Imperial School of Ballet in St Petersburg at age 10 and graduated at 17
- Ballet choreographer who co-founded and was artistic director of New York City Ballet
- they met when Balanchine selected him as one of the 11 male dancers in the Broadway show 'The Great Lady' in 1938
- in 1948 he joined New York City Ballet and in 1949 he became the associate artistic director
Gluck Sandor
- he we trained in Ballet and Modern dance however was also familiar with Broadway, Vaudeville, and Burlesque.
- work was often very theatrical and expressive
- Robbins Joined Gluck Sandor's Dance Centre Company in 1936
- Gluck choreographed 'The Brothers Ashkenazi' which Robbins was in in 1937
Agnes De Mille
- she moved to Hollywood when she was 9 with her Father.
- she was known for having very characterised pieces where the movement is used to tell a story including things like mime
- she met Robbins whilst choreographing 'Three Virgins and a Devil' in 1941 in which he was a lead dancer
- she was a dancer in the dream Ballet in West Side Story
