Children
They respond to meaning, even if they do not understand the individual words.
They often learn indirectly rather than directly. They take information from their environment, learning from everything around them.
Their understanding comes not just from explanation, but also from what they see, hear, touch and interact with.

They have a limited attention span. It dos not matter how engaging are the activities, they are easily bored. They can pay attention for ten minutes or so, after that they lose interest.

They are keen to talk about themselves and respond well to learning that uses themselves and their own lives as a main topic in the classroom.

Adults
They have a whole range of experiences. They come into the classroom with a rich range of experiences that allow the teacher to uses them for activities.

They may have experienced failure and criticism at school which makes them anxious and under-confident about learning.
They can engage with abstract thought. We do not need to make activities based on games ans songs, but it depends on the students.
