LM358 Class A Amplifier Test and Measurement Setup - Coggle Diagram
LM358 Class A Amplifier Test and Measurement Setup
Test Setup Overview
Objective: Measure the voltage gain (Av) of the LM358 Class A Amplifier
Equipment Required: Oscilloscope, function generator, multimeter, power supply
Test Signal: 1kHz, 30mVp sinewave input
Circuit Components & Configuration
LM358 Operational Amplifier
Resistors: Biasing resistors, feedback resistors
Capacitors: Input and output coupling capacitors
Power Supply: Single-supply operation (e.g., +5V to +15V)
Measurement Procedure
Step 1: Apply 1kHz sinewave to the input
Step 2: Observe input and output waveforms using the oscilloscope
Step 3: Measure the maximum voltage of input and output signals
Step 4: Calculate voltage gain using Av = Vout / Vin
Step 5: Validate expected gain with theoretical calculations
Expected Results & Analysis
Linear amplification within the op-amp’s bandwidth
Minimal distortion at moderate gain settings
Comparison of theoretical and experimental voltage gain
Troubleshooting & Considerations
Check proper biasing to avoid distortion
Verify correct resistor and capacitor values
Ensure oscilloscope probe settings match expected signal levels
Adjust function generator output if necessary
