In response to these arguments Descartes may offer his ontological, contingency or external world argument which all rely on the existence of God.
The problem with these is that they fall into the trap of the cartesian circle as they follow the basis of clear and distinct ideas. The cartesian circle is the idea that what Descartes clearly and distinctly must be true as God is benevolent and would not lie to him. With this Descartes assumes the very thing he trying to prove as clear and distinct ideas rely on the existence of God which is being proved through these clear and distinct ideas.
Therefore Descartes ends up with a continuous circle which he can never call knowledge. Bad as it can lead to solipsism, left with none.
