Most Christians believe in the immortality of the soul. They believe that when the body dies, the soul leaves the body to live with God
Some say the body and soul are one and cannot be separated. After death the soul is temporarily apart from the body, but body and soul will be reunited on Judgement Day. At the resurrection we will rise bodily from the dead, just as Jesus rose from the dead
