- - - - People can learn to understand peoples feelings by reading non fiction. An example of this was when reading this part of Americanized, the reader can feel connection of understanding to the main character. This passage connects to the development in understanding other experiences, because Sara speaks of how she feels about her parents putting in money and effort for something that they didn't get to experience. This is important because it shows the compassion that Sara has for her parents. This deepens my understanding of the essential question because it actually shows the main character feeling this in the book. In conclusion it is important to take into accountability the effort put in by others that benefits you, and the appreciate that.
    - - There are many examples presented in the book Americanized that the reader can experience empathy for the book characters.This relates to the essential question because it shows how the main character is feeling, as well as the unfairness of her situation. After all it is not fair for a teenager to look after their younger sibling full time when they are not the actual parent.This is important because it teaches the reader empathy and gives the feeling of understanding how Sara is feeling. This passage deepens my feeling of the essential question because rather than a character in the book feeling empathy and understanding, the reader is the one feeling it. In conclusion readers can infer that by reading this book it the readers understanding of empathy will change and they will in turn become a more empathetic person.
    - - In the book Americanized plans fall through with Sara's date, this causes her to be without one while the rest of her click has dates. This is yet another example of a passage, when the reader felt an understanding for the main character. Because of this it connects to the idea of understanding a persons experiences. This evidence is important because it does a good job of showing how the main character is feeling in her unfortunate situation. She is left without a date, not wanting to go to the dance, and worrying about missing out; however this is important because it allows the reader to have more sympathy when she lists all of what is going wrong. The amount of things listed all at once allows me to know that Sara is overwhelmed. This helps to deepen my understanding of how the character is feeling then creating a sense of empathy, as well as feeling bad for the main character. In conclusion empathy and understanding is not something that should be overlooked in non fiction because not only does it provide ups and down in a plot but also creating a environment or situation a reader can, or can not relate to relate to.
