Spouses are wary of relationships with neighbors.
Some prohibit their partners from making friends in the community.
Lack of mutual trust in the couple for fear of external criticism.

Neighbors avoid contact so as not to expose themselves to problems.

Parents restrict their children's mobility for fear of other neighbors
