This would show off why you are there and branch out to different audiences that might care more about stories in a game for world building that the actual gameplay

This could show off the different characters in the game and give hints to why they are there, this would then refer them to the trailers which they could watch.
Merch
Merch would be a good way to start popularising the game after it has launched instead of relying only on the trailers and posters which came before the game was released.
merch would help promote a game as if its on a t-shirts or different pieces of clothing it would encourage other people that saw it to look it up depending on its looks, this means the games would have to show off a cool concept from the get go, this means it would most likely need to be a singular character or a ability from the game.
Limited Editions
Limited editions of a game are also a good way to promote it as even if the game doesnt look all to appealing it still could show interest to different people such as collectors who wish for the other items, as in most limited editions of games come with a figure or unique book, this would encourage people who don't find interest in the game to still buy it.
