        Cisco devices generate syslog messages based on network events, each containing a severity level and facility. Lower numerical levels indicate more critical alarms. Severity levels control where messages are displayed, such as on the console or other destinations.
        
        10.5.4 Syslog Facilities:
        In addition to severity, syslog messages include a facility, which categorizes system state data for error and event reporting. The available facilities depend on the networking device. For example, Cisco devices like the 2960 Series switches and 1941 routers support 24 facility options across 12 categories. Common facility codes include:
        
        Some common syslog message facility codes reported on Cisco IOS routers include:
        
        IF - Identifies that the syslog message was generated by an interface.
        
        IP - Identifies that the syslog message was generated by IP.
        
        OSPF - Identifies that the syslog message was generated by the OSPF routing protocol.
        
        SYS - Identifies that the syslog message was generated by the device operating system.
        
        IPSEC - Identifies that the syslog message was generated by the IP Security encryption protocol.
        
        Level 0 (Emergency): Critical errors affecting device functionality.
        
        Level 4 (Warning): Errors related to hardware or software malfunctions.
        
        Level 5 (Notification): Normal but significant events, like interface changes or system restarts.
        
        Level 6 (Informational): Non-critical messages, like device boot notifications.
        
        Level 7 (Debugging): Messages generated by debug commands for detailed troubleshooting.
