Trauma and stress related disorders
PTSD:
person relives traumatic event in dreams these disturbances must occur for more than one month after trauma
, delayed onset can be 6 months later
can have dissociation
a generalised bio vulnerability tp PTSD is i fyou have anxiety disorders in family
Acute stress disorder:
panic attacks and depersonalisation due to having traumatic event in last month,
in last few days
Reactive Attachment Disorder:
child under 5 will not seek caregiver for protection or nurturing, limited +ve affect and high emotionality fearless ness and sadness
Adjustment Disorder:
anxious/depressive/mixed
responses to life stress not meeting criteria for other disorders
Disinhibited social engagement disorder: children go with anyone
Obsessive compulsive disorder
obsessions are thoughts the individual tries to eliminate
compulsions are actions they take to supress the obsessions and provide relief
compulsions can be behavioural or mental too like counting, praying, thinking of things in a certain order
compulsions are often magical and bear no logical relation to the obsession but bring relief to the sufferer
treatment:
exposure and response prevention

treatment: modelling, stimulus fading, shaping that allows expsore to speakiing situation, reward system
Benzos should only be given for 1-2 weeks for short term relief of anxiety caused by stressful event or crises
