ORDER FROM DISORDER
1620 - 1714
J. MILTON
THE SCIENTIFIC REVOLUTION
THE PURITANS
Oliver Cromwell instituted many Puritan reforms, that had followers coming from all the social classes.
Puritanism begins under Henry VIII to purify the Church of England. Based on this reform all men are sinners and condemned to damnation, but can only be saved by God, who decides everything.
The Puritans criticised the outlook and the ecclesiastic rituals of the Church. They refused the interpretation of the Bible given by the Church, because they wanted to be free of reading the Bible by themselves.
