For artists and natural scientists, which is more important: what can be explained or what cannot be explained? Discuss with reference to the arts and the natural sciences.
what is an artist?
how can we determine what can or cannot be explained?
what are natural scientists?
scientists refer to people who conduct logic-based research in order to better understand the environment we live in
an artist is someone who expresses their thoughts and emotions through their work in the form of art, music, dancing, drawings or writings
an artist does not have to necessarily be talented in his field of work, the way he expresses his feelings can also lead to him having an impact on others.
an artist also does not particularly need to work for fame, he can create art to send a message or simply just for entertainment purposes
natural can be interpreted in different ways
natural can be understood as study of organic matter such as flora and fauna
natural can be understood as things that

explain refers to the clarification of knowledge and its justification as to why the knowledge behaves as such
knowledge can be clarified in multiple ways such as through logical means via experimentation and observations
knowledge can also be justified through subjective opinions, which although may contain bias should not be disregarded
thus, knowledge that is unexplainable should be a collective agreement between multiple groups that such knowledge cannot be justified confidently without any bias or assumptions
for artists
for scientists
scientists do not like assumptions, assumptions diminishes the justification of proof towards the truth of factual knowledge, knowledge that does not fluctuate in opinions but are true in all cases no matter what
in experimentation, getting consistent results ensures that what is experimented is understood to a sufficient degree where we could replicate the experiment anywhere and get the same results
thus, this knowledge can be explained to a certain point, which is acceptable at a societal level, however scientists may not be satisfied if they could only produce results without understanding the process, which may lead to scientists needing more experimentation to further understand the phenomena
however, if said experimentation produces wildly different results which indicates an unknown variable to the scientists, it will also be beneficial as this poses new questions to be answered. In science, questions are the motivators which drive research, With questions, scientists are able to conduct research in multiple areas in order to search for an understanding of a phenomenon.
an artist tries to find meaning in any art form, this meaning can be found through different methods
to an artist, what can be explained and what cannot be explained are equally as important as what art means to someone is interpreted by the observer
emotional context
logical context
philosophical context
whether someone feels a particular artform is important or not is subjective, and can be justified
what cannot be explained in art?
some may consider the intended knowledge, or the truth within art can be derived from the vision of its creator as his vision holds more authority than others
however, if the creator created the art purely for entertainment, or as a creative endeavor without any particular meaning, would a lack of thought from the creator result in a lack of truth in the art?

abstract paintings

this style of art consists of various shapes, splashes of color with no particular vision or outline of a tangible object
it is unexplainable, yet it is fascinating and can be a source of entertainment
various factors that contribute to uncertainty in a model such as
humidity, wind speeds, etc.
although it is important to factor in uncertainty, it is also important that certain factors such as location of climate and intensity of climate can be predicted to a degree of accuracy in order to avoid any danger or exploit benefits
it is important to have unexplainable art so that people learn to accept the curse of the unknown, learn from curiosity kills the cats
certain components in abstract art such as shapes, colours are important so that people are able to assign physical objects to intangible ideas such as love or happiness
historic paintings
combining chemicals
this artform consists of paintings particularly from the renaissance era that have a deep history to them and their painters
their origin, meaning and interpretation are concrete and explainable to a certain degree
people can learn about old cultures, traditions or norms from these paintings
in order to produce other materials, we have to attain their base chemicals and combine those to form our desired substance
this process is explainable and is repeatable as we know of the properties of each chemical and how to utilize them
scientists are able to replicate this process without fail and produce the same substance every time
