THE FAKE MINERALS
It is a natural mineral transformed by man into another, or entirely artificial.
MINERALOGY AND CRYSTALLOGRAPHY
NICKEL CRYSTALS
Natural nickel crystals are exceptionally rare. Nickel crystals can form on the wires used in the electrodeposition process.
There are now numerous examples of forgeries in mineralogy and gemology

BISMUTH
It is found in nature as dull gray amorphous lumps. These crystals are made in a laboratory, allowing supercooled liquid bismuth to crystallize.
CARBORUNDUM
It also occurs naturally, but is very rare and the crystals are almost always small or microscopic. It appears as hexagonal plates of thick crystallized silicon carbide, with typical iridescent rainbow surface colors.
BRILLIANTLY COLORED OBSIDIAN
It is a natural volcanic glass formed as an extrusive igneous rock. Obsidian comes in black, brown, gray, and various combinations. When it's brightly colored red, blue, green, it's fake.
GALENA GEODES
They do not form naturally and are a man-made product. They have been created using a natural geode that has been filled with galena.
GREEN QUARTZ
It can be produced in the laboratory by modification. The process consists of heating the quartz with high pressure water. The curve recrystallizes. Other substances present could be included in the new crystals.
CERMIKITE
It is not a naturally occurring mineral, but is probably alum.
laboratory-grown chromium that has been crystallized in the presence of a dye.
AQUA AURA QUARTZ
It's a beautiful bright blue color, but this color is not natural. To obtain that shine, it is coated with other metals.
METAPHYSICAL POWERS
There are people who believe in some healing or spiritual property of minerals.
EXTRAORDINARILY NAMED MINERALS
A very common trick is to give a super special name to a practically worthless mineral.
ARTIFICIALLY DYED MINERALS
Experienced collectors confess what people do with the minerals to sell them, and the stained specimens are enough to get you to drink.
