      - Animism - Belief that spirts are an important role in everyday life
        
        The supreme god was not to important to these people, but it was believed that the spirits of the ancestors were responsible for things going on (Harvest, Illness etc.)
  - - - parents would pass these stories on to their children and this lead to a tradition that would pass the history on

        The only reason why I think it could've been abandon was because it became a major trading route, which is pointing a big target on their back for conquering.
