Hegel - master slave dialect
Hegel first sketches out the position of the master what is is that is going on on the side of the master what he or she is attemtping to attain and how that connects with not just the slaves, but the wider world.
One person is in the up position and the other person is foced into the down postition.
The theory of God.
He says that the lord as a being a consciousness that exists for itself and he says that this is mediated through another consciousness.
This is mediated not only through the consciousness of the masters, but the consciousness of the slaves themselves.
The lord knows who and what he or she is precisely by the existence and the activity of the slave
This is not just the slave doing something for the master in a pure isolated dyad.
The slave is connected with the entire world of things.
Slaves are brainwashed into thinking there is a precise way of doing things and in an order too.
The slaves are working like that in a structure to make them think that there would be no way of moving out of this structure,
The work of the slave is always the accomplishment of the master.
The slave has a duality of mind. For one, they have consciousness to know that they are a slave otherwise they wouldn't be a slave. On the other hand they're being treated like a "thing" to do their work.
Hegel says that lord takes the dependent aspect of the thing asnd enjoys it and consumes it and the slave takes independent aspect that makes us resist us and makes us work at it.
The lord gets the good part of the product while the slave gets the bad part by doing all the labour. The part that people don't want to have.
The lord has a desire of recognition.
He attains the recognition by being over the salve and making the slave satisfy his or her desires giving them the things taking the best parts of it for him or herself.
The existence of the slave is dependant on the master on the lord.
The outcome of this is a recognition that is one-sided and unequal. The master is not able to attain the kind of recognition that he or she was desiring from the slave because of how low the slave is socially.
The slave is the dependant consciousness.
