- - - - Education must attend to the harmonious and comprehensive development of the student within social coexistence, in the physical, intellectual, moral, aesthetic and civic aspects and must seek their training for useful work in their own interest and for the collective benefit.
    - - It is recognized that the purpose of Panamanian education is to foster in the student a national consciousness based on knowledge of the history and problems of the country. Although the interest of educators is to teach everything necessary to forge good men and women for Panama and that the Constitution prescribes raising awareness of social problems, experience leads us to the conclusion that there is indeed a high level of awareness of Panamanians about the events that occur in Panama and may at any given time affect the community.
    - - Everyone has the right to education and the responsibility to educate themselves. The State organizes and directs the public service of national education and guarantees parents the right to participate in the educational process of their children. We must indicate in this regard that, although all Panamanians have the full right to education in accordance with the provisions of the Magna Carta, it is no less true that we all do not actually enjoy it, due, among other aspects, to accessibility. , facilities or economic conditions, for example. Hence, it is necessary to delve into these reasons and create the conditions, even if they are more expensive, to fully comply with such precept.

        Currently, a document is being reviewed that includes the legal bases, public policies, universal trends and a proposal for the organized formulation of secondary education. In this same sense, the programs and their curricular contents are reviewed in order to update them and incorporate the latest technological advances.
