TYPES OF ASSESSMENTS.
Ipsative assessments. With this assessment it is possible to analyze the student's progress against his previously performed work. The main purpose is to help the student to be prepared for the summative assessment. For example, if a student has to present a project, he will make his first submission to the teacher. The teacher will give feedback and the student will make the necessary changes while reflecting on his strengths and mistakes so that the second submission will show continuous improvement. This process will be repeated until the day of the final submission of the project.

Summative assessmentSummative assessments are typically graded and used to evaluate students' academic achievement in relation to clear standards. Assessments of learning fall under this category.Examples: final exams, TOEFL, cumulative projects, essaysResources: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SjnrI3ZO2tUCheongwhan Hong
Diagnostic assessment
Diagnostic assessment helps teachers to identify students strengths, weaknesses, knowledge level, and skills prior to the beginning of instruction so that teachers can appropriately address learners' needs.
Diagnostic assessments provide educators with insights of instructional decisions, as well as make it visible on students' progress. Having diagnostic assessments periodically helps teachers modify & refine their teaching methods.

Norm-referenced assessments. Any test that compares the student to other students in a region or world is norm-referenced. These tests can be used for different groups of students. The main purpose is to observe the performance of each student and to be able to classify their progress. In addition, it allows the teacher to identify the student's skills and difficulties in the learning process. For this assessment, students can be classified by age, by grade level, by ethnicity, etc. Example of norm-referenced assessments:
Map Growth test or national standards tests.

Formative assessmentFormative assessments are typically not graded and are used to give the instructor an understanding of students' comprehension. The results can inform future lessons and necessary changes to fit the needs of the class. Assessments for learning and as learning can fall under this category.Examples: cold calling students to paraphrase key concepts in their own words, hands up for comprehension, pop quizzesResources: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ma1orRWKbWECheongwhan Hong
Assessment AS/OF/FOR Learning Distinctions Explained
Assessment FOR Learning- Involves evidence of students' knowledge to inform teaching. It usually occurs throughout the learning and teaching process to display students skills and understandings for teachers to adjust as they go.

-
-
Assessment OF Learning- Assists teachers in using evidence of student learning to assess achievement through outcomes and standards. It is usually employed at the end of a term to rank/grade students
-
-
-
Assessment AS Learning- Students are their own examiners. Students would monitor their own learning, ask questions and use strategies to explore how to improve.
