Separating Techniques
Chromatography
-
Chromatography is based on the principle where molecules in mixture applied onto the surface or into the solid, and fluid stationary phase (stable phase) is separating from each other while moving with the aid of a mobile phase
-
Water Treatment
-
-
General Process
The water is filtered, to remove any solids
The water undergoes sedimentation where iron sulphate or aluminium sulphate is added to make particles clump together and settle at the bottom
-
Crystallisation
-
To carry out crystallisation you need an evaporating dish and a heat source, once you've got your crystals they'll need to be filtered out of the solution so a funnel ad some filter paper is required
Filtration
-
Works by passing a mixture through some filter paper that has been placed in a funnel, the liquid passes straight through but the insoluble particles are caught by the filter
