- - - - Women have less social mobility, this shows in lower literacy rates with some adhering to strict rules about who they speak to, leaving the house and what they wear. Some in Britain are not allowed learn English. Thier identity cannot be altered, keeping them apart from modern influences
    - - In some countries eg Saudi Arabia, women are underprivileged and are treated as second class citizens.
    - - There is a gender pay gap with average women in the US only making around 80% of what the average man makes.
        In the UK, women were unable to vote until 1918. The emancipation of women has mostly occurred in MEDCs.
