How does the W.H.O define health and why is it changing
W.H.O Definition
A state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity
Why is it difficult to define
The term complete is impossible to achieve
Social well-being is a subjective aspect to measure as different people will measure their social well-being differently.
Disabilities are very hard to include in this definition due to the subjectivity involved once again
3 MAIN DEFINITIONS USED
Negative
Health is when there is an absence of disease - Absence of management of symptoms
Positive
Health is when a person is strong and resilient, and can resist disease - Feeling enough energy
Functional

Role of a triage Nurse in an emergency team
What is an MDT
A Multi-Disciplinary team is a group of healthcare staff from different organisations and professions (Allied Healthcare professionals). They all work together to make decisions regarding the treatment of individual patients
The triage nurse will assess the severity of a patients injuries, if they are deemed to not be life thrusting or serious then they will prioritised according to the other patients also in A&E based on their injury.
The importance of a triage nurse is that it means patients with more severe and serious injuries are seen faster by the relavent doctor/team and that means that doctors are able to save more lives. The triage nurse can also contact specialist departments if they are required and can give them time to prepare for the patient allowing the whole initial treatment to go smoother and more efficiently than if the triage nurse wasn't there
