A drug is a substance that alters a person's physical, mental, and emotional state.
Drug abuse refers to the improper use of drugs, whereas drug use refers to taking a medication as prescribed.
There are four types of where substance abuse and misuse occur, drug substance abuse, drug dependance, drug tolerance, and drug withdrawal
Drugs is one of the main concern problems in the Philippines, the government has focused inplementing policy of criminalization and punishment.
The government organization charged with creating drug policy in the Philippines is called the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB).

Drug misuse is using a drug for the purpose that is not observing the legal medical guidelines.
Drug tolerance is when your body no longer responds to the effects of certain substances due to repeated use.
Drag dependence is when you need to consume drugs in order to function normally.

Risk and Protective Factors
Risk factors are mostly developed by Low community attachment and Poor Family management and discipline
Protective Factors are mostly developed by Attachment and bonding to family and Emotional Control.
Protective factors can include having self-control, more parental control, anti-drug policies, academic competence, and strong neighborhood attachment
A circumstance where drug exposure is a "risk" and “factor” is a fact or influence contributing to a result or outcome. “Influence” is the capacity to have an effect on the character, development, or behavior of someone or something
Social factors: curiosity and adventure, to rebel against authority, influence of peer, family and society, social and cultural practices, seperation, easy availability and accessibility
Psychological factors: escape from emotional problems, financial, marital, responsibility, elevated level of stress, inedequate coping mechanisms, reinforcement of alcohol use from other drinkers, to relieve of boredome, loss of loved ones
