TOK Concepts
Truth
The people in power often manipulate their words in a way that they are still mostly telling the truth, but are unfairly manipulating the emotions of the masses.
Power
The people in power, such as political leaders & celebrities often use their influence and their power over people and communities to push certain ideals, an agenda and/or an ideology.
Final Object
Hitler Propaganda Poster
Real Life Context
The chosen object is an American war poster made during WW2. The premise of the war poster is to incentivise car-sharing during a time when very little bit of fuel could possibly be used towards winning the war. The poster tells the American people that they are supporting Nazi Germany and Hitler because they are consuming extra fuel by using their car alone. This object connects to the knowledge claim in many ways. The people that made this poster want to push their agenda against the Nazis and sway the American public into conserving fuel to be used towards the war. The makers of the poster manipulate the emotions of the American public by convincing them they are helping the enemy by not adopting a car-sharing service.
Claim: People in power can bend the truth to easily manipulate and persuade a community of people, further oppressing the oppressed and contributing to the unfair imbalance of power.
