        Falsehoods covered media about the two, and posts claimed a gag order was issued by the judge in the hearing trial and all media was prevented from being within the court. These claims were false.

        A U.K. media outlet: The Lotus Eaters, tweeted a link to a video which did not claim gag orders yet claimed several accusations to suspicious activity within the case.
        Nathan's order stated, that the Federal Rules of Criminal Procedure 53 prohibit “the broadcasting of federal judicial criminal proceedings from the Courtroom.” Meaning that it wasn't unusual for press to be prohibited from the court.

    - - Two ten year old boys, Thompson and Venables lured a two year old boy, James Bulger through shopping markets and passed many witnesses who didn't think to report or do anything about the suspicious activity. During the police search for a missing boy, many witnesses stopped the two boys yet believed their false stories. They took the boy to a railway track, beat and tortured him and then layed him on the train track which led to him being split in half by a train. The boys were sentenced for 8 years

      - Thompson earned himself the nickname, 'the boy who did not cry' from the press.
      - People were shouting outside the courthouse, 'kill the bastards', this popular disgust intensified as witnesses and media noted Thompson's cold, remorseless behaviour to the point they believed he was the instigator

      - The crime was aired on 'crime watch' in the same week as it had been committed with offerings of CCTV to aid enquiries. - this shows how high profile it was in the public agenda.

        The Sun newspaper created a petition in which 280,000 signed to increase the custody sentence. As a result Home Secretary Michael Howard in creased the maximum sentence to 15 years.
      - Newspaper Campaigns started to blame violent videos as of suspicions that the boys has watched the hoor film, 'Childs play3'
        
        although there was no evidence of this, it led to media violence where The Sun campaigned to get rid of and burn any copies of the film, video shops took down the film

        Media has become of responsibility of the child protection professionals
        The case has exposed the public nature of safe-guarding and child protection, and it suggests that there needs to be a stronger connection between media, public and professionals for child protection.
