The Taino people had lots of food sources including fruits, vegetables, fish, and meat. The main crops that were harvest were beans, squash, potatoes, guava, pineapple and many more. These crops would not only help the natives survive but will later become major trade items with the Europeans and other countries. "The Taíno’s staple crop was called yuca, known today as manioc. The yuca was processed into cassava bread called casabi by the Taíno" (William). They would peel the yuca, shredded it into pieces, drain the water out of the plant until completely dry, cooked flat circular shape on wood or blocks in a pit and would be served to the village.
