Self-Challenge Idea Generation - Coggle Diagram
Self-Challenge Idea Generation
Setting
Present
Less obvious speculative fiction options
Can draw from true crime stories as are abundant in the modern age
Past
Plays well into some aesthetics and reduces the chance of suspension of disbelief being broken easily by tech out-weighing the problems the story incurs
Can lie slightly and include objects and motifs only found in the present without too much scrutiny
Future
Tone
Doesn't take itself seriously though with serious and dark elements, see AI: The Somnium Files
Needs to really use the contrast of this to make the emotional beats hit even harder
Themes/Motifs
Flowers
White and Black Roses (Black Roses don't naturally occur to my knowledge, but this isn't real life)
Crysantheums
Used in one seen near the end of the game to show all colours
Birds
Ravens
Snow Owls
Canaries
Gameplay
Randomly Generated
Family System
Designed to be usable in any and all social circumstances that the game offers the Player with other characters
Generational System
Similiar to Nemesis System
System to generate locations and crimes
Set number of possible locations with different generation parameters
Genre
Mystery
Use of Relation System would aid massively in providing continual, procedural stakes to the game
RPG
Usually used as part of a hybrid genre, see action-RPG, adventure-RPG, MMORPG, etc
Action
Not Many intrinsic opportunities in writing
Could Hybridise to offset this
Hybrid
Helps to provide easier writing paths to genres not usually conductive to long dialogue
Presentation (of the game)
Text-Based
Goes well nicely with the area that I'm focusing on
Much easier to program other interactive elements around
2-D
Only Basic sprites, especially dependant on time management
Can ask contacts in industry or college for help
3-D
Less readily accessible
Would take a significant amount more time
being actively taught to us through Modelling & Engine usage
3DS Max
Unreal Engine
Blender
Area to Focus in
Coding
This would primarily serve to demonstrate the Writing that I plan to accomplish in an interactive way.
Writing
Already Relatively skilled in this area
Have contacts I can reach out to
Easy resources available to improve my skills, as opposed to things such as Coding, which I would improve at a slower pace
Hybridise
Time Management much harder to finalise considering new activities and responsibilities
Aesthetic
Dark Academia
Largely in the areas and design of the visuals that the game will attempt to describe and, potentially, represent
Detective Fiction
Used primarily for the gameplay loop and atmosphere of the gameplay rather than any specific aesthetic purposes
Victorian
Monochromatic
Colour Palette = black, white and grey
