Black Death
What is the black death?
Between 1347 and 1352 CE, a disease pandemic known as the Black Death ravaged mediaeval Europe, killing an estimated 25–30 million people.
Treatments
Known as Four Thieves Vinegar, this Black Death cure from the Medieval Period mixed vinegar with garlic, herbs, and spices.
How did it spread
The Black Death, originating in Asia, arrived in the Mediterranean harbors of Europe in 1347 CE, via the land and sea trade routes of the ancient Silk Road system.
Medieval Europe
What was it
The idea of Europe as a well-defined and somewhat unified place is a relatively recent construct. People would not have called themselves ‘’Europeans’’ and most would not have understood themselves instead in relation to their clan, village or family and the local ruler or local lord.
