- - - - there are several tenets
        
        Grammar should be descriptive, not prescriptive
        
        Focus on describing the language as it is used, not saying how it should be used.
        
        Grammar should characterize competence, not performance
        
        It is knoweledge put into action by the learner in the learner environment.
    - - “Explicit learning” refers to learning the vocabulary and grammar in language materials by dominant means, such as memory, grammar analysis, and so on, which is a process conscious and controlled. In this process, the learners know the composition of the learning process and can fully express the knowledge that has learned
    - - The main principle of generative grammar is that all humans are born with an innate capacity for language and that this capacity shapes the rules for what is considered "correct" grammar in a language. The idea of an innate language capacity or a "universal grammar" is not accepted by all linguists.
    - - “A particular generative grammar” is “a theory concerned with the state of the mind / brain of the person who knows a particular language” (Chomsky
        1986)
    - - According to Chomsky’s theory, the basic structures of language are already encoded in the human brain at birth.
      - This “universal grammar theory” suggests that every language has some of the same laws. For example, every language has a way to ask a question or make something negative.
