- Drug tolerance is a phenomenon in which the body becomes accustomed to a substance and requires a higher dose to produce the desired effect.
- Drug withdrawal is a state in which the body has become accustomed to the continual presence of the drug and reacts in unfavorable ways when the drug dependent discontinues use.
