The future is increasingly multi-cultural, and increasingly sensitive to cultural needs, so it makes sense to increase the sensitivity to need in school. This gives learners exposure to the concept of inclusion throughout the years at school.
Society is an ever evolving construct and disability can be viewed as an environmental problem, through the social model of disability. The disability only exists in interaction with the environment around. Society is coming to accept this new way of viewing disability and our schools should reflect it also.
"One group of people create barriers by designing a world only for their way of living, taking no account of the impairments other people have" (Minister of Disability, 2017, as cited in Prof.Prac p. 199)
Universal design for learning allows all learners to be included in the group - this is a teaching strategy
