Anglo-Saxon or Old English Period
Christianity was re-established and there was a flowering of literature and language.

Anglo-Norman or Middle English Period
Feudalism became much more widespread
Norman French became the language of government in England. Anglo-Normans replaced the native English nobility; many French words replacing English vocabulary.
New architecture was introduced in the form of motte and bailey castles and Romanesque cathedrals.
Renaissance Period or Age of Shakespeare
Vernacular languages
Development of vernacular languages like English, German, Spanish and Italian as well. Classical literature in Latin and Greek were translated or written in the vernacular languages.

The renaissance scholars began to take deep interest in the study of man and his achievements.The main idea of this movement was the cultivation of the human personality.
