Democracy: run by the people for the people. We get to chose who will govern us. We choose how we will be governed

Levels of Government

Westminster system: system of government in which people do not directly elect their government but leave it to the elected legislature to install, supervise, and remove the government.

Democratic values: Democratic Values The ideas or beliefs that make a society fair.

Justice: the quality of being just, impartial, or fair. questioned the justice of their decision.

Justice the action of taking part in something or in society, like voting.

Rights and Responsibilities A right is a choice to make your own opinion and entitlement to things such as education, religion and freedom of speech. Responsibilities are duties or something an individual should do such as following the law and rules.

Parliament The Australian Parliament: represents the people of Australia; makes and proposes Australian law

Executive government that puts government laws and programs into effect.

Judiciary Interprets the laws and administers justice.

Local government responsible for functions such as social care, garbage collection

Federal government have the power to make laws to the entire country

State government laws that only apply to the state such as railways & public transport
