Apartheid and White government
It is the “resentment of three hundred years” of authoritarian rule that caused him to block his ears so that he would not hear Amy’s pitiful cries for help as he attacked and killed her.
Growing up in the apartheid era was difficult
The restrictions placed on black people lead them to react irrationally
White government used extreme measures,such as forced removals and anti-protecting laws
Anger becomes an appropriate response.
The responsibility for what Mxolisi did and what Amy suffered, lies almost solely with the apartheid system.
His life and childhood
Education
Their education was limited and poor,compared to those of the white.
Students were encouraged to join operation barcelona - a campaign to stay away from school and create havoc .
Mxolisi leaves school to become more involved in school politics.

Abandonment
Mxolisi losing his father at a young age hurt him emotionally.
After his years of silence the first thing he askes is where is his father
His grandfather and Lunga had also left leaving Mxolisi with no father figure or anyone to look up to, no one to instill proper values of manhood.
He had to find his own path-which eventually lead to one of violence.
Poverty and Characteristics
Ever since a age,Mxolisi watched his mother work for white people and saw how unfairly she was treated and payed.
Mxolisi is intelligent ,and loyal to others.Although at is worst he is disobedient and a bully to his siblings ,he is a active political leader.
Mxolisi had a caring but misunderstood soul. He had helped a girl from the community from not being raped.
Trauma
Being only 4 years old ,and watching his 2 close friends die at the hands of the police had a negative impact on the way he grew up. He was mute for about 2 years and had constant nightmares after the incident ,in which he may have felt responsible ,showing he had a good conscious.
In school , he was also beaten for being unable to pay for the school fees.
Mxolisi knew what unfair treatment was during his schooling years.
This being one of the main reason he left school ,and was more involved in the school politics instead.

Conclusion
The apartheid era, white government and Mxolisis tragic experiences shaped him into the man he became. He fell victim to his circumstances - the abused is seen to become the abuser and that is then how he is seen as the prepeptrator . Amy Biehl was killed only for the reason that she was white and what she represented , Mxolisi went violent over that.
Mxolisi was a good person ,but the situations he was put in ,made him act out to survive causing him to e seen as a inhumane being.
